Sendan Tokusa Bowl
The traditional design technique, Tokusa, evolved during Japan’s Edo period, which consisted of a century and a half of economic growth, environmental protection, and intellectual, cultural and artistic development in the country. Comprised of blue and white lines meant to symbolize the reeds of Tokusa grass, also called the Scouringrush Horsetail, Tokusa’s radiating pattern is beautifully represented on these elegant bowls from Miya Company, and looks as modern today as it did centuries ago.
