Apple Promotes Diversity at WWDC

Leading up to Apple’s recent Keynote presentation–which introduced Apple Music, OS X El Capitan and iOS 9—arguably the most pressing issue on CEO Tim Cook’s mind was diversity. Under the helm of Cook—who champions social issues like LGBTQIA rights, diversity and environmental protection—the company continues to employ a 70% male workforce and has been known to exclude women speakers in its popular keynote presentations. That streak ended yesterday when Apple executives Jennifer Bailey and Susan Prescott took the stage to discuss the News app and mobile payments, marking a step toward a more diverse era for the tech giant.
