Browse a world of art through carefully curated galleries with Art.com’s newly released iPad app

Advertorial content:

Debuting today, the all-new Art.com iPad app artCircles offers a fascinating way to navigate the world of visual art. Utilizing a multi-faceted user interface, the artCircles app allows you to search through specially curated collections of art as chosen by a variety of notable figures, ranging from community organizer Yosi Sergant, Rhode Island School of Design president John Maeda, and children’s book author Leslie McGuirk. Users can view images in a gallery that corresponds to each curator, but can also navigate through the collections as organized by inspirational words and the colors featured in each piece of art. In addition, users can tag the images as favorites, create their own collection to be shared with friends via social media, and purchase pieces of art directly from the iPad.

To showcase the spirit and power of the artCircles app, Art.com partnered with director Michael Langan on creating a short film. “I was floored when I realized we’d have access to the entire Art.com image collection of more than one million works of art to create the film,” said Langan. “The project became something more, because for the first time ever, people would see animation emerge from artworks they’ve known all their lives. Van Gogh’s self- portraits morph into Audrey Hepburn; Hokusai’s famous wave crashes over the bathing nudes of Degas, Renoir and Gauguin; the moon flies out of a bevy of definitive abstract paintings to explode in a shower of Jackson Pollocks and melt into Rothkos.”

artCircles is available for free from the iTunes store.
