A Look Inside the Unemployed Magazine Issue Two

A poster-like publication featuring some of the best emerging photographers and artists

When the inaugural issue of Unemployed Magazine dropped earlier in 2015, the biannual print publication (with accompanying website) made its intention clear: expose the world to talented, emerging photographers. Not only did the first run sell out entirely, but all of the photographers featured within were soon contracted by Vogue magazine to contribute imagery for their iconic publication—an affirmation of the goals established by founders Cecile Winckler and Sophie Tabet. Today, issue two drops in a similar unbound poster format, composed exclusively of striking imagery, and the result is beautiful, aggressive and engaging. This follow-up issue contains a new collective of emerging photographers and artists who were given complete creative control over their submissions. Altogether, it delivers uninhibited voices in take-home exhibition form.

Over 100 images from more than 20 different artists make up issue two. From Alba Hodsoll and Caroline Vreeland to Greta Ilieva and Emilie Kareh, there is a fair number of emerging women makers represented here as well. And this issue does feel, very much, like stepping into the lives of some of those who contributed work. While the print publication is entirely image-based, the Unemployed Magazine website contains frequently updated exclusive editorial content, including video premieres. Check out the slideshow for an exclusive preview of Issue 2.

Unemployed Magazine is available at select stockists in NYC, LA and Paris. It’s printed in a limited run of 500 copies.
