The 2014 Architizer A+ Awards Winners

The results are in: today 129 winners across 60+ categories from all over the world are announced

The second annual Architizer A+ Awards results are in, and 129 winners in more than 60 categories were announced today. Cool Hunting is proud to be a media partner with the global architecture awards program and applauds the work of the participants, the 300+ innovators who made up the jury and last but not least the public, who contributed their opinions to the popular vote. Some of the winners are well-known, like the National September 11 Memorial by Handel Architects, while others may only be recognized by loyal CH readersthe remote Vancouver Island snowboard cabin by Scott & Scott Architects landed on CH last winter and earned an A+ jury award this week.

Pointing out that the field of architecture only had the Pritzker Prize (honoring a single architect every year) as its most prominent award; “The A+ Awards is a launching pad for changing the publics perception of architecture by celebrating more than the lone genius and celebrating the profession as a whole,” writes Architizer CEO Marc Kusher in an article today.

The Architizer A+ Awards Gala takes place 15 May in NYC at the Highline Stages duringNYCxDESIGN, followed by a party at the Top of the Standard. In an unusual award ceremony twist,winnerswillnot give a speech but accept their awards bydeliveringathree-wordmanifesto consisting of a verb, a preposition and a noun. The straightforward approach is based on the “Multifesto,” a communal design manifesto created by global design consultancy 2×4.
