BOLDR’s Affordable Chronograph Watches

Three beautiful new timepieces sporting a hybrid quartz-mechanical movement

Another Kickstarter success story, BOLDR watches returns to the crowdfunding platform for three variations on a brand new watch model: the Journey. At the core of these timepieces, a Japanese-made Seiko VK64 Meca-Quartz Movement offers up a quartz-mechanical reliability. It lends the watch a mechanical aesthetic, but also keeps up the battery-operated accuracy. Further, all the three Journey models sport chronograph functionality. The Singapore-based brand produces all their watches at an industry-leading manufacturer in Hong Kong—and precision is fundamental. BOLDR wants the Journey watches to be trustworthy time-keeping travel companions and from their meticulous attention to detail, it seems that will be the case.

As far as aesthetics go, the Journey draws inspiration from vintage aviation timepieces. They’re reasonably sized at 43mm, but a domed mineral glass lens is an intense and stunning addition. This window more or less magnifies the dial and aviation-styled hands (coated with lume). While it strengthens clarity and readability, when contrasted with the texture of the case, it makes for something special. Finally, all the watches come complete with limited edition custom caseback artwork designed by Malaysian tattoo artist Kevin Tan. Altogether, these are beautiful, reliable watches at very reasonable prices.

As they’re already fully funded at the time of publish, you can score a BOLDR chronograph on Kickstarter from $162.
