The latest concept from the incredible Sweden-based woven flooring company Bolon, their Botanic collection makes a revolutionary breakthrough in the field of vinyl. The new material uses plasticizers based on renewable raw vegetation material, maintaining the 50-year-old company's status as the archetype of contemporary vinyl floor coverings. The unique sheen and trappings of color combined with the apparent unusual texture already attracts the attention of design lovers, but their progressive thinking has Bolon shortlisted for the 2010 imm Cologne interior innovation award. Even with the success of their vinyl floor covering, Bolon continues to research and develop new products. Currently they are working on a collection of leather-finished carpets and made-to-measure moquettes and tiles—a new concept for the woven vinyl masters.

"Flooring to us is design, fashion, exhilarated, unconstrained—pure and simple joy, elegance and a real dose of rock'n'roll," says the company about its unusual approach to furnishing the ground. Last year they helped Swarovski deck out one of its staggering Crystal Palace installations during Design Miami with silver swatches from its Now collection, but lately Bolon's edgy attitude has been displayed everywhere spanning hotels, showrooms, bars and nightclubs—all drawn to the company's bold patterns, bright colors and the unique appearance of vinyl underfoot.
