Kebei Li Kickstarts His Cubic Cable-Holder

The industrial designer’s sculptural brass and copper cord organizers become a reality

Imitation is apparently the greatest form of flattery—but once industrial designer Kebei Li learned that a cheap, almost-too-similar version of the cubic cable holders he designed as a RISD student was being funded on Kickstarter by a new SF-based company, he took a proactive approach. As the design was publicized before Li could patent it, neither the designer nor anyone else can legally own the intellectual property, but he officially launched his own Kickstarter to offer the design the way he intended: with the greatest attention paid to quality and detail. The minimalist cubes will be made from brass or pink-ish copper—changing patina beautifully over time and surely lasting longer than the current iPhone model in your pocket. It’s one of the most elegant cable organizers we’ve seen and is a true upgrade for your messy desk.

Support an independent designer’s quest for integrity by reserving a cube with a minimum pledge of $30 to Li’s Kickstarter campaign.
