Swedish watchmaker Bravur follows its first entry into the market with a new model this summer. Called the BW002, the piece carries on from where its predecessor left off—remaining true to the company’s distinctive aesthetic and desire to create a watch that packs intense detailing into a refined, smaller and more dressy package. “We’ve cropped a few millimeters off the diameter of the case and removed the lugs,” co-founder Magnus Svensson tells CH. The result is a smaller 38mm timepiece that references classic dress watches but feels purposefully modern.
The BW002 retains Bravur’s two-piece hollow crown, which requires precise tolerances to manufacture—a detail that has received much acclaim. As before, the case remains a key area of design focus, one half-brushed, the other grooved vertically. Resolving the exterior design is a well-specced sapphire crystal with a gentle dome.
Moving inward to the dial, its applied hour indexes are minimalistic, with a simple seconds track tracing around their tips. The Bravur hollow hands also make an appearance, yet with extended lashings of accent color. Finished with a gold-lined date window, it’s a very accomplished, composed dial that underlines Bravur’s fixation with detailing and style. Be it formal or casual, as a sum of its parts, this is a piece that garners serious attention on the wrist despite its relatively diminutive size. Which is quite an achievement from this small Swedish boutique label.
“A watch today is simply an item that you love and cannot function without. That’s what makes wearing a timepiece so very unique and personal. It’s more than a statement, it’s a companion,” concludes Johan Sahlin, Bravur’s co-founder.
Bravur offers BW002 in four variations with assorted strap options and hand choices. The watches are available for pre-order online with prices start at $625.
