Core77 Design Awards Winners 2016

From consumer products to visual communication, the publication announces their favorites

A resource for industrial design (and beyond) for years now, online publication Core77‘s collective eye for functional and aesthetic advancement has made them experts in innovation. With the announcement of their Core77 Design Awards winners, they’ve shined a light upon dozens of professionals (and a handful of students) who are thinking with the future of design in mind. With categories ranging from design education initiatives to packaging to speculative concepts and interaction, the scope is broad but thorough. There are projects launched and already delivering an impact, and some just at the proposal stage. Altogether, it’s a list for inspiration filled with some familiar names and some new to it all.

Among the winners, there are many CH favorites. From the Oculus Rift to items from Box Clever, and, of course, IDEO.org (whose Divas sexual health kit changes lives). But as frequent flyers, it was design firm paulwylde‘s reimagining of First and Economy Class travel on Hawaiian Airlines that made us pay even closer attention. The social impact of the WonderSphere, from Wonder Connection and product design consultancy Bresslergroup, impressed with its actual encouragement of enthusiasm in pediatric hospital patient. We all know design can impact emotions and sensations and our general connection with the world around us. Core77 has selected winners who not only strive for for that, but they’re advancing it powerfully.
