COVE by Zaha Hadid Design for Boffi
A completely customizable sink and stovetop kitchen island
Even a quick glimpse at the late Dame Zaha Hadid‘s COVE kitchen for Boffi reveals the signature stylings of the acclaimed architect. The freestanding unit’s smooth geometry makes reference to the curvilinear design of the MAXXI Museum of Art in Rome and even the curves of the cultural center of Baku. As for materials, they’ve been kept to hand-finished natural stone, a select wood veneer and high-performance Corian. Entirely customizable and available in two sizes, COVE incorporates a stovetop and sink into the sleek surface, while drawers are inset on one side and a nook for stools on the other.
Zaha Hadid Design—a division of Zaha Hadid Architects—worked with Italian heritage producer Boffi on the piece, with COVE being a piece within the BOFFI_CODE bespoke division. The collaboration began nearly three years ago with a view in mind to bring Hadid’s aesthetic to Boffi’s minimalism, all the while offering precise customization options. COVE’s now out there, successfully featuring all of the above. It’s also been installed in the apartments of 520 West 28th Street, Hadid’s first (and only) residential building in New York.
