An impact-proof case for transporting treasured possessions
For travelers, there’s never been an appropriate, reliable and dedicated place to stow a wristwatch. That’s about to change, thanks to California-based DISCOMMON‘s debut product The Watch Wallet. Not only is it a safe, thoughtful location for a watch (and more), it also happens to be quite luxurious itself—wrapped in Italian leather and lined with top quality tweed. It’s DISCOMMON’s collaborative partner D30, however, that provides what’s most important: impact protection. The brand has lent The Watch Wallet its proprietary AERO foam core which actually stiffens and then absorbs energy upon impact. On the outside, the object looks like a leather portfolio, but inside is a secure, advanced hideout for valuables.
DISCOMMON’s talented team of designers has equipped the wallet with elastic pockets and an inspired strap retention feature. There’s also a pocket for a passport, tickets, other jewelry or even a phone. Handmade in the US, the wallet is crafted with care and concern so travelers don’t have to be concerned for their belongings. And despite being handsome, it’s unassuming and doesn’t allude to the contents within. DISCOMMON’s origins are as a design consultancy, and for a premier product of their own, The Watch Wallet is an interesting, well-executed concept.
