Digital Talent Abounds at Eyeo Festival 2019

Creativity and digital-savviness converge on Minneapolis for the four day event

Eyeo Festival, running 3-6 June at the Walker Art Center, brings together some of the world’s brightest coders, data designers and new media artists. They’ll converge on Minneapolis, where labs, panels, talks, demos and more will take place over four days—all of which is accessible to the public.

The group of speakers at this year’s festival is delightfully diverse, including artist Mario Klingemann, media artist and director Refik Anadol, BUFU collective, internet artist Tiny Subversions (aka Darius Kazemi), Detroit-based musician and programmer Onyx Ashanti, and multi-disciplinary game designer Christina “Phazero” Curlee. All of the speakers masterfully operate in the digital world—toying with the capabilities and expectations of 21st century technology while delving into the idea of digital consciousness.

The festival’s workshops include in-depth how-tos on a number of topics, from live-coding visuals to machine learning, each of which is ticketed individually. They’re led by industry leaders from Hydra and ml5js, among others, and will leave attendees with lasting inspiration and an introductory grasp of their topic of choice.

For us long-time fans of EYEO, the festival is a hotbed for originality and revelation. From the talent hosting panels to all the burgeoning attendees, we anticipate learning something from everybody, every day.

Tickets for the four-day event are available now.
