From sweaters to socks, rugs and jewelry, our favorite items dyed with the lush blue hue

Cool Hunting’s co-founders have long been indigo experts and enthusiasts, and their obsession has proven to be contagious—with the entire editorial staff sharing the passion. The lush, inky hue isn’t just heavenly to gaze upon; the process, textures and history of indigo all factor into its significance. From bandanas to sweaters, rugs and necklaces, we have gathered just a few of our favorite indigo-dyed items for gifting to your favorite people this season. If these selections pique your interest, check out the full Indigo Gift Guide in the Buy section.

Heavy Loopwheeled Hoodie

Made from one of the most time-consuming fabrics to produce—loopwheeled cotton—this heavyweight, indigo-dyed hoodie ($345) by The Strike Gold will break in and fade over time just like your favorite pair of raw denim jeans. Its fabric has been woven tighter than usual to block wind, while its interior has been triple-brushed for a soft touch. Two front pockets and custom metal zips add a vintage vibe.

Sterling Silver and Linen Necklace

With a sterling silver crescent at its base, Erin Considine’s sterling silver and pale indigo-dyed linen necklace ($330) is anything but plain. The piece is treaded with Kumihimo hand-braided cording, making it both soft and ethereal while remaining a bold and striking piece. Adjusting to up to 26 inches long, the necklace can easily slip over your head and be worn with all kinds of necklines.

Cable Socks

Tokyo-based brand Anonymous Ism is famous for their unending quest to craft the perfect pair of socks. Their indigo cable-knit socks ($36) mix classic patterns with super-saturated indigo for an understated take on a timeless design. Cut from a cotton/polyester blend and made in Japan, these socks come in one size that fits most.

Recycle Rug Indigo

Constructed from recycled strips of Nudie Jeans’ high-quality denim, the Lill-Mats’ Recycle Rug Indigo ($499) is a variation of a Swedish trasmatta—better known as a “rag rug.” Made in an exclusive limited edition of 275 pieces, the beautiful indigo weave measures in at 140 by 70 centimeters, making it as substantial as it is charming.

Tote 1

Choosing from their already carefully selected denims, 3×1 utilizes their absolute favorites for the Tote 1 bag ($95). Made in the USA, the patchwork bag remains sleek and current, rather than slipping into the too crafty realm and—since it’s denim—goes with just about everything.

Classic OB T-Shirt

Made from cotton jersey that’s sustainably grown in California’s Central Valley, Olderbrother’s classic OB T-shirt ($95) is designed in Portland and cut, sewn and dyed in LA. Each T-shirt is a little different—due to the dyeing process—but each boasts that glorious calming tone that indigo enthusiasts love. Available in XXS to XL for all genders and sizes.

Indigo Stole Shirt

Snow Peak’s Indigo Stole button-down shirt ($163) is cut from an indigo-dyed, cotton-linen blend fabric and features patterning that’s bold—but not too busy. Made in Okayama, Japan—a region famous for its denim production—the unisex shirt incorporates Snow Peak’s signature side pockets and casual fit, making it the perfect layer for exploring the outdoors in style.

Lightweight Indigo Sashiko Wallet

The Hill-Side’s Lightweight Indigo Sashiko wallet ($150) is simple but nuanced. Made with a Japan-sourced 100% cotton outer and supple Italian cowhide leather interior, it’s a high-quality billfold that’s sure to last. The lightweight indigo sashiko fabric is sophisticated and lush, so even when you’re spending your hard-earned money, you can enjoy it.
