London Design Festival 2005

London's always calling, but right now, with the 3rd annual London Design Festival running through September 30th, the siren song is a little louder. Exhibitions, cafes, and events take over the city and, curiously, most of what caught our eye happens on the East end, like Geoff McFetridge's premiere show in the UK at Kemistry Gallery (runs through October 5th), a Rococo installation of digitally printed tiles held in Digitile's showroom throught September 25th, and, for the lushes, the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society's show of unique labels created by 26 writer-designers teams' responses to sampling whiskies (through October 1st). Also of note, ecologically-minded events include an exhibit put together by the non-profit [re]design, the results of London Remade's Inspired Recycling initiative, a Dirt Café that invites debate loosely themed around the Slow Food movement, and a debate about sustainability.
