Inside Lotte New York Palace Hotel’s Villard Houses South Wing
A magnificent near-15,000 square foot Gilded Age space
It’s near impossible to deny the grandeur of the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, from the striking stone facade of its Villard Houses entryway to the uninterrupted penthouse views of the tower that’s attached. Not many have been lucky enough to explore inside, where there is a Gilded Age (which ranged from the 1870s to the turn of the century) treasure trove found within the Villard Houses’ South Wing. Many rooms lay within, and each stands as an example of 1880s extravagance and attention to detail. Among the most interesting, The Gold Room—complete with gilt ceilings, walls and wainscoting—looked to the Renaissance for stylistic inspiration. The Madison Room, of marble and murals, features coffered ceilings and bronze molding. Both the Drawing Room and Library feature carved wood and impressive fireplaces. Altogether, the space is nearly 15,000 square feet of New York history, boasting famous guests and event performances.
Presently, these spaces are used for everything from special events to meetings. The vast four story space in the midst of it, however, with over 3,200 square feet on each floor, is seeking a permanent resident—preferably a luxury atelier or boutique. New to the market (and represented by PD Properties) the space appears ideal for retail brands looking to tap into the historical landmark status of the layered room. Further, a business resident with open doors would be additional impetus to check out the marvelous interiors.
