Oppermann’s Newest Surfaces Collection

Swedish minimalism meets London style in the brothers’ newest line of quality leather goods

Oppermann was founded in 2012 by brothers Mattis and Niklas Opperman, both young upstarts at just 25 and 26 respectively. Opting to completely cut out the conventional distribution and physical outlet model of the fashion world, the leather goods label offers incredible quality at a notably-competitive price point. The brothers’ aim is clear: attainable luxury. The latest collection in Oppermann’s growing offering is dubbed Surfaces and features plush, tumbled leather from Sweden’s Tärnsjö Tannery, trims in Italian vegetable-tanned leather and detailing courtesy of handcrafted zippers from Raccagni in Naples and ABC Morini’s hardware.

With Swedish founders at the helm, it’s no surprise that the high level of quality material sourcing is matched by a clean, neutral aesthetic. “We’re heavily influenced by Swedish minimalism and the individuality of London style, where excellent craftsmanship and sturdy construction meet crisp lines and geometric shapes,” note the brothers.

In Surfaces, Oppermann contrasts the textured leathers with the slickness of the smooth trim. Furthering the tactile details, handle and trim endings retract under the outer panels with the stitching remaining like a ghostly outline. It’s a slick, masculine collection of everyday bags, laptop folders, sleeves and wallets, specced in strong color options like navy, chocolate, cognac and black.
