PAIX Commuter Backpack

A new bag with all the staples, plus a smart interchangeable accessory

New SF-based company PAIX believes they’ve designed what many have tried to achieve: the ultimate commuter backpack. Made from water-resistant CyclePET® fabric (which in turn, is made from recycled PET bottles), BackPAIX has the staples: 30 liters of space, lots of pockets including one with side access for a 15-inch laptop or tablet—and it even claims to be fully weatherproof. The uncommon extras are a shoe pocket, loops for yoga mats or tripods, a U-lock, luggage slide-over straps, a bottle-opener buckle, and an optional GoPro mount. We aren’t sure what to make of their “Smart Display Badge” add-on, however, which is the backpack’s most distinct yet possibly frivolous feature (“flash your mood” via emojis). There’s potential for it to be a bike light and turn signal, environmental pollution sensor, and even speaker.

Head over to Kickstarter where a $159 early bird pledge reserves a backpack ($205 for one with a GoPro mount) with expected shipping to be November 2016.
