Piaget’s New Sporty, Stainless Steel Polo S Wristwatch

An iconic piece from ’79 gets a substantial refresh inside and out

Many brands look to the past for inspiration. Few, however, have as iconic a back catalogue as Swiss luxury watch and jewelry designer Piaget. The Polo S isn’t a standard reissue—it now features the brand new in house Piaget 1110P movement and the chronograph model sports the new in house Piaget 1160P movement, designed and manufactured exclusively by the brand. The 42mm timepieces are crafted from stainless steel. Visually, a cushion-shaped face offers a geometric contrast to the round case—a frequent Piaget signature. Available in three different color options for the face (blue, silvered or slate-gray), the watch gives off a durable, sporty energy but maintains the brand’s elegance (the chronograph offers either the blue or silvered dial). A sapphire case back allows you to see the movement. The Polo was an important piece in the early ’80s and the Polo S carries along that craftsmanship and heritage but stands entirely on its own as a horological delight—at unexpectedly lower price than most of their pieces.

The Piaget Polo S Automatic retails for $9,350, the Piaget Polo S Chronograph for $12,400. It will be in select Piaget flagship boutiques on 15 July 2016 and will get wider distribution by September.
