Retro Redux: A 24 Hour Game Design Jam

ClubAwesome.jpgRetro Redux, which is a 24 hour game design jam that took place at Parsons School of Design and was sponsored by Atari. Teams from different schools in the area competed to make as many games as they wanted within the alloted time frame in the style of the Atari 2600 and 7800. Awards were given for Best Sound, Best Visuals, Most Innovative, and, of course, Top Game, which gets featured on the next edition of the Atari Flashback Console.

The group I was a member of, Club Awesome, won Top Game for our game Ninja Garden, which is a two player game where two ninjas attempt to burn each other’s pagoda down by picking up randomly placed bombs of their designated colors while carving a path through a field of cherry blossom trees with their powerful shurikens. Look for us in this Wednesday’s New York Times, as well as the upcoming issues of Game Informer and Wired Magazine.
