ROOM Collection
A modular storage system by designers Erik Olovsson and Kyuhyung Cho
By taking an unconventional approach to the relationship between object and space within the typical home environment, designers Erik Olovsson and Kyuhyung Cho created a piece of modular furniture to act as miniature rooms for objects of assorted sizes and shapes.
The ROOM Collection is a shelving-unit-meets-storage-space for both clothing and objects of affection. Shown for the first time this week at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during Milan Design Week 2014, the furniture system concept is comprised of 25 stackable blocks and a low table, each varying in size and shape; inspired by the possible objects they may soon hold.
Olovsson and Cho chose raw pine as the sole material—save for a stainless steel mirror—for its natural beauty. And, with no hardware needed, ROOM further encourages its owner to experiment. Make it a table, a shelf or even a sculpture. Either way, the experience provokes interaction and imagination. Keep an eye on both Olovsson and Cho for updates on production—coming soon, we hope.
