Graphyne Planter + Cutout Tray
Brooklyn-based design studio Light + Ladder juxtaposes the organic curves and contours of your beloved plant against a gemstone-like foundation. Their made-in-USA Graphyne planter ($300) is elegant and unpretentious, with a cut-out drip tray, matte stoneware and glazed interior all in a beautiful shade of off-white.
Tall Utility Vase
The stoneware Tall Utility Vase ($160) from Luur Design was cut to perfection on a CNC machine. A removable grate (available in three colorways) lets it function as a vase or planter. Insert a few choice flowers into the grate for a poignant presentation that’s akin to living artwork.
Brass Lid Vision Glass Terrarium
Designer duo 10¹² from Ichikawa, Japan follow up their beautiful prism Terra Hydro Terrarium with another iteration that’s more “open-air.” Their Brass Lid Vision Glass ($97) was designed to exhibit the entirety of the plant in its beauty—no hiding underneath the soil. It’s yet another crafted vase that allows you to observe both the succulent and its intricate root system evolve over time.
Button Planter
Enablers of unique floral arrangements, planter purveyors Chive strives to highlight nature’s beauty through interesting positioning. Their simple Button ($23) resembles a smooth stone—with a shallow hole at the top for moss and small succulents, for a playful composition. It’s available in white, grey, and peridot green.
Copper Black Concrete Bowl
Handmade in Melbourne, Australia (and currently only available within the continent), these copper and concrete bowls combine earthy and flashy elements, resulting in an eye-catching item for any room. The concrete planters are a beautiful way to show off a combination of cacti or succulents, or skip the potting soil and fill it up with fruit. The unique irregularities in each piece make them extra special.
Spun Planter
Yield Design Co. offers a timeless, polished planter made from a single piece of pure copper—and locally in Florida, where their studio is based. The Spun Planter ($145) doesn’t just look pretty—unlike many decorative planters, it actually has drainage holes in the form of a perforated, galvanized steel plate at the bottom. This isolates the base of the plant from excess water, preventing root rot.
