Warm pine and cold granite conjure man’s relationship with nature
The new pine and granite Geo Table from Portuguese product designer Gonçalo Campos makes a bold design statement with the raw materials. By leaving the underside of the slab tabletop unfinished, Campos aims to remind the user where the individual components come from, while juxtaposing the cold top finish against the warm pine legs. This homage to untamed nature raises the question of material origin—which we all too often forget to consider carefully when furnishing our modern lives.
“The Geo Table pays reference to both aspects of human behavior towards nature, keeping one surface flat and functional, while the other is left free and wild,” Campos says of his latest work. For more information on the young Portuguese designer’s studio visit his Facebook page.
