TID Watches: No.2

Brushed steel and domed sapphire crystal update a clean, modern design

This summer, Swedish watch brand
TID releases its new timepiece, evolving its already successful design with some sweet new twists. Formed by Ola E. Bernestål, Petrus Palmér and design studio Form Us With Love, TID’s entry to the world of watches was a versatile minimalistic design. The No.1 was an affordable, attractive watch for every day wear. And now, the No.2 continues to rely on the same recognizable case design and fixed lugs that allow for quick interchange of a NATO, ZULU or pass-through strap.

Like on the brand’s first watch, the crown sits on the left (slightly disorientating at first), and maintains the nicely proportioned minute and hour hands, plus a bullseye seconds-hand. The main point of difference is the case itself, which is a classy brushed steel with etched numerals and minute markers. The lugs, hands and crown receive the same treatment, resolving the entire design neatly. Another updated feature is the crystal, which is now domed sapphire and adds a little extra profile to the piece. While the look remains the same, the small tweaks to the detailing give No.2 a completely different feel.

The No.2 is available in both 40mm and 36mm sizes and is available online for €345.
