Warby Parker’s Bike Project

Retail on two wheels at Art Basel

While Warby Parker’s pop-up Holiday Spectacle Bazaar occupies an old garage space on Soho’s Grand Street this month, the gang behind Warby Parker are also setting their sights on Miami’s Art Basel scene this weekend.

Paring down the mobile-vending concept to two wheels, the NYC-based eyewear brand, known for its stylish, affordable prescription specs and “buy a pair, give a pair” sales model, is hitting the streets of Miami with tailor-made bicycles. The turquoise blue cruisers, assembled by custom bikemakers Republic, feature front display cases containing up to 15 different eyeglass frames.

As the bikes roam throughout Art Basel’s popular go-to destinations such as the Design District, the Wynwood Arts District, and South Beach’s Lincoln Road, glasses will be available for purchase on the spot, including the funky, new, digitally-printed limited-edition sunglasses born from the brand’s recent collaboration with fashion label Suno—no doubt an appropriate form of wearable art for the chic set.

Ongoing through Sunday, 4 December 2011. Check Warby Parker’s Twitter feed to track the bikes’ whereabouts.
