Belle-V Ice Cream Scoop
An elegant update on the classic utensil keeps comfort at the forefront of its design
From gluten-free sorbet bars to ice cream for dogs, we’re always on the look out for new ideas within the realm of frozen treats. The latest to pique our interest is the Belle-V Ice Cream Scoop.
The brainchild of Dr. Karl Ulrich (Vice Dean of Innovation at UPenn’s Wharton School of Business) and experienced product designer Jeff Salazar of Lunar Design Studio, the Belle-V is made from alumininum, so it’s lightweight and strong, but is also extremely heat conductive. The metal allows for body heat from a user’s hand to move down the handle to the head for easier scooping, potentially making it an innovative option for scoop shops like CH favorite Jeni’s. Designed with comfort in mind, the elegant scoop features an asymmetrical, elongated head that allows the scooper to keep their wrist straight, making short work of frozen desserts. Taking a note from Sherman Kelly’s celebrated scoop design, the Belle-V is cast in aluminum, and polished by hand to an attractive finish. There are also plans to release a left-handed version next year.
