Effective and Efficient Hydration with Liquid I.V.

Osmotic science allows for optimum hydration

Whether it’s after a long flight, workout, or big night, our bodies oftentimes need hydration. By enlisting the help of decades-old science led by the World Health Organization, Liquid I.V. hydrates (whether you’re active or sedentary) more effectively and efficiently than water alone.

Their “hydration multiplier” comes in three flavors: açaí berry, lemon lime and—our favorite—passion fruit. The non-GMO electrolyte drink mix uses CTT (cellular transport technology) to transport water and the nutrients necessary for hydration into the bloodstream. The mixture is made up of mined salt, potassium, cane sugar and is gluten- and soy-free, as well as vegan. Unlike guzzling water alone, the unique mix of electrolytes in Liquid I.V. means that its absorbed more effectively and quickly into the upper digestive tract—rather than most liquids that traverse the entire digestive system, losing many nutrients along the way.

Brandin Cohen (Liquid I.V.’s founder and CEO) compounded what he observed with the World Health Organization’s research to find a better alternative for hydration purposes than drinks like Pedialyte or Gatorade, which often include other ingredients that some prefer to avoid.

“I ended up going to work in professional sports in Arizona for the pro baseball team out there called the Arizona Diamondbacks. I’d go down in the dugouts and the clubhouse before the games, and they were all drinking Pedialyte,” he says. “It’s baby hydration and I was like, ‘Why are the best athletes in the world drinking a drink that’s made for babies?’ So, I talked to the trainers and they said it’s a science called oral rehydration therapy.”

This science, employed in products like Pedialyte, Cohen says, saved lives in parts of the world where getting an I.V. for ailments like the flu isn’t an option. “I’m thinking, ‘This is crazy, what other products are using it?’ And at the time, this was six years ago, there was just Pedialyte. My first thought was what if you could take this science—it’s simple, clean science—and take all the crap that’s in Pedialyte (artificial flavors, artificial colors) and create an adult lifestyle brand around it,” he says.

In forgoing the artificial flavors and ingredients in Pedialye, Liquid I.V. turned to a healthier formula that includes things like cane sugar, stevia leaf and Vitamin C, B3, B5, B6 and B12. Just add the powder to 16 ounces of water and drink.

Liquid I.V. is a go-to formula for the hydration of professional athletes, the hungover, the frequent-fliers and, thanks to the company’s global initiative, various regions of Puerto Rico, HaitiUganda and places in the USA that have faced natural disasters. By purchasing a serving of Liquid I.V., a serving is given to someone in need, thanks to their partnership with Direct Relief.
