Flavor Faves

Mojito jellybeans, mango-ginger chews and more star in our round-up of the latest flavors to hit the market

While we’re always on the lookout for major food innovations that overhaul form, ingredients and more, we still appreciate a classic brand—particularly when reinvented with new addictive flavors. Below, learn more about a few we recently sampled that hit the mark.

Jelly Belly

While cocktail-flavored Jelly Bellys may seem an odd treat for kids, the sugary beans skip alcohol overtones to appeal to little ones and adults alike. The “It’s five o’clock somewhere” series features fruity flavors like Mojito, Cosmo and Piña Colada for a summery assortment that’s welcome year-round. To sample them all, pick up a gift box for $6.

Also new from the flavor master, their Honey Beans duplicate a “fresh-from-the-hive” flavor using real honey. Get a 16-ounce tub from Jelly Belly for $9.

Chimes Ginger Chews

We’ve long been fans of Chimes Ginger Chews for their health benefits, but the new Mango and Orange flavors refashion the Indonesian brand as a true candy competitor. Chimes sell online from Smallflower Apothecary or at Whole Foods for $4.

Kind Healthy Snacks

In addition to six new gluten-free flavors like Blueberry Pecan or Peanut Butter and Strawberry, Kind Healthy Snacks has a new snack bar, actually designed to just be a snack. Low in calories, the Kind Minis are also high in vitamins for an easy dose of nutrition on the go. Kind’s new flavors and Mini snack bars will be available August 2010, and will sell online as well as at health food stores for around $7 a box.
