Tullamore D.E.W.’s Limited Edition Celebratory Phoenix Whiskey

A splendid single batch made in an edition of just 2014 bottles

While in Ireland for the opening of Tullamore D.E.W.‘s brand new distillery, we had the opportunity to try their latest limited edition expression: the Celebratory Phoenix Single Batch. Crafted in honor of the distillery opening and made in an edition of just 2014 bottles, there was much anticipation and expectation of the spirit. And it delivers. Much like their other blend offerings, it’s triple-distilled and triple-blended. However, this spirit is finished in Virgin Oak casks, an uncommon demonstration of delicacy within the Irish whiskey world. This touch lends a vibrant vanilla and cream sensation that embraces a soon-to-follow light cinnamon spiciness. While it shares some attributes with their core offering Phoenix, including a high ABV and use of pot still whiskey matured in Oloroso Sherry Buts, this limited edition maintains the original complexity yet bundles it neatly in a smooth, balanced way. It’s inspired, rare and a well-rounded representation of top tier Irish whiskey.

Each bottle of Tullamore D.E.W. Celebratory Phoenix Single Batch retails for €90 and is available exclusively in Ireland, at select retailers. Sure to be a collectible, it will likely make its way to online second-hand markets in due time.
