Facebook and Unhappiness Explained

For all the time we spend on Facebook, is it really making us any happier? A team of researchers at the University of Houston set out to better understand our psychological connection to the social network by tracking the behavior of Southwestern University students as they scrolled through their timelines. The new study—which appears in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology—reveals that, due to our natural tendency to compare ourselves to others, more time spent on Facebook can often result in stronger depressive symptoms.
