The xx gets remixed, new music by Gavin Turek, a gorgeous tune by Burial and more

The xx: On Hold (Jamie xx Remix)

The incredibly talented Jamie xx has taken the lead single from The xx’s latest album I See You and reworked it into a six-minute techno jam that’s made for the dance floor. With minimal vocals included, the “On Hold” remix seems to sample Bronski Beat’s “Smalltown Boy” and certainly creates an ’80s rave party vibe.

Björk: the gate

Unsurprisingly, Björk’s new track “the gate” is stunning. The song will appear on her upcoming LP, which she has been calling “a Tinder album.” Across more than six minutes, the song builds dramatically and luminously.

Gavin Turek: Birdie Bees

Multi-talented Gavin Turek recently released the super-delightful song “Birdie Bees.” Her sweet vocals float across the groovy bass-line, and the track’s blend of funk, soul, R&B and pop charms. Produced by Chris Hartz, it ultimately uplifts the listener.

Burial: Rodent

Super-talented British producer Burial (aka William Emmanuel Bevan) just released a new track “Rodent” which is a little more uptempo than his usual offerings. Unlike some of his more atmospheric creations, this tune is a slow but steady burn, complete with haunting samples and a creepy vocal loop. The track will also be available on vinyl later this month.
