New tunes by Jack White, Nadine, Karen O featuring Michael Kiwanuka and more

Karen O feat. Michael Kiwanuka: YO! MY SAINT

Written by the inimitable Karen O, “YO! MY SAINT” is a tune made for a KENZO short film that celebrates their spring/summer 2018 collection. Featuring vocals by English soul musician/songwriter Michael Kiwanuka, it’s a slow-burning and haunting track that ebbs and flows in a beautifully melodramatic manner until it fades into a lush, gentle lullaby.

Jack White: Respect Commander

The second track to be released from Jack White’s forthcoming Boarding House Reach album (after the profound, dynamic and epic lead single “Connected by Love”), “Respect Commander” flips over listener expectations. After minutes of layered, genre-defying instrumentation, White’s vocals burst forth and a powerful message of marrying respect with love is delivered amidst guitar licks.

Nadine: Pews

With a thoughtful, percussion-driven oscillation, Nadine’s “Pews” endears itself to eardrums, helped along the way by singer Nadia Hulett’s warmth. It’s the third track teased from the band’s forthcoming debut—and it’s a nostalgic wonder. Nadine’s oh my releases 26 January on Memphis Industries and Father/Daughter.

Macross 82-99: Sailorwave II

Blending J-pop, funk, hip-hop, dance and more Macross 82-99 has the power to brighten up just about any gloomy day. Released late last year, Sailorwave II is an 11-track record by the Osaka-based producer, and it is sparkly, lush future-funk with cameos by Punipunidenki and Le Real, Desired, Night Tempo, Yung Abe and more. If you like your tunes with a lot of bubblegum, this EP could very well delight you.
