Beautiful new music by Tune-Yards, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Sam Gouthro and more

SG Lewis feat. J Warner: Aura

London-based DJ and producer SG Lewis is fast becoming a CH favorite, thanks to his atmospheric and laid-back style. His latest collaboration, with J Warner, “Aura” blends dance and soul seamlessly and the result is a funky dance floor-ready track that boasts glittery production.

Tune-Yards: Heart Attack

The lead track from Tune-Yard’s brand new album I can feel you creep into my private life, “Heart Attack” lays out the sonic profile and thematic discourse Merrill Garbus will explore along all 12 songs. With her signature magnetic power, Garbus sings, yelps and belts over layered instrumentation and into self-reflective territory. It’s quite the wild ride.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: American Guilt

The new track by NZ band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, “American Guilt,” is a little more psychedelic than what’s found on their previous album. Seemingly recorded in a lo-fi manner, with plenty of fuzzed vocals and distorted guitar, the tune is crunchy and raw in the best possible way. UMO has also announced a comprehensive USA and Europe tour beginning in April.

Sam Gouthro: Down For This

San Diego-based DJ/producer Sam Gouthro (who is signed to Majestic Casual Records) released the very mellow “Down For This” late last year and it’s been playing on the CH office speakers non-stop. The tune combines elements of soul, funk, jazz and more, and the result is a cruise-y little groove that begs for repeat listens.

James Blake: If the Car Beside You Moves Ahead

James Blake has just released a new track—his first in two years. In “If the Car Beside You Moves Ahead,” Blake chops and distorts his voice while supported by minimal synths and a metronome-esque beat. Returning to his earlier, glitchy and manipulated style (circa his CMYK EP from 2010) this song is dark and beguiling.
