Weezer covers Toto, plus new tunes by Anderson Paak, Lillian Frances and more

Anderson Paak: Bubblin

With a little extra drama than his usual offerings, Anderson Paak’s new track “Bubblin” features some sweeping violins over a trap beat—creating a little contrast and cinematic flair. The rapper/singer/songwriter/producer’s raspy and playful vocals bounce over the booming bass, while the accompanying video stars Paak—and a cash machine.

Lillian Frances: Bailamos Con el Humo

Calling herself “sound collager,” Lillian Frances has just released her second EP Timeism and from it comes the delightfully glitchy, mostly-Spanish-language song “Bailamos Con el Humo.” Infectious and bright, it’s just one of the record’s charming tunes, each of which boasts glossy, rich production—also by Frances herself.

Weezer: Rosanna (Toto Cover)

Beloved band Weezer has been begged for some time by fans to cover Toto’s “Africa” and, instead, today they released their version of the band’s 1982 jam “Rosanna.” The result is certainly faithful to the original, with the main difference being Rivers Cuomo’s familiar voice. Weezer is touring all over the States this summer—perhaps playing some live versions of the classic, which is often assumed to be about Rosanna Arquette, who was dating the band’s keyboardist Steve Porcaro at the time.

Disclosure feat. Fatoumata Diawara: Ultimatum

After diving into Fatoumata Diawara’s discography, English electronic duo Disclosure pieced together a song that heavily samples her work—and the result is “Ultimatum.” Their first new track since 2016, it’s an approachable dance tune that showcases Diawara’s rich vocals, backed by the duo’s familiar soulful, deep-house sound.
