Kate Bush back on tour, Henrik Vibskov’s #PrivateJam, Liars’ new “Mess” and more in the music we tweeted this week

Berlin-based 3’Hi is bringing their “sweaty dance floor” vibes to New York and London this spring and, for a hint at what’s to come, check out their promo video montage culled straight from footage of gyrating party-goers in the late ’80s. Keep an eye out for their events at Williamsburg’s Kinfolk Studios and Dalston’s “infamously sleazy” Alibi bar, both happening mid April. But anyone can get in on the fun via their monthly mixes created by a range of DJs, like Houston’s DJ YAW, Berlin’s Kurt Steinwald or Bed-Stuy’s Le Super–Mâché.
The Age of Luna: Indigo
This week, Noisy dropped a double-dose of wonder when they alerted the masses to the little-known group Age of Luna. It’s hard to imagine that the trio delivering such a beautiful, rich set of R&B grooves—like a modern SWV—are only the tender age of 19. But it’s even wilder to learn that their sound was mastered by 15-year-old producer NK-OK. Listen to the London-based collective’s new track “Indigo” and even more songs on their SoundCloud page. And if you’re feeling paltry in comparison, the upshot to this gang’s youthful success is that there’s so much more to come.
Jaakko Eino Kalevi: Who Put The Bomb
While many will know the Danish designer for his large-scale, exceedingly creative fashion shows and collections, Henrik Vibskov is equally accomplished on the drums. In that spirit, we asked the former Trentemøller drummer to select this week’s #PrivateJam, and naturally he put us on to one highly addictive song. Vibskov chose Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s “Who Put The Bomb” because he is “a guy from Finland that I know and love,” but we suspect it’s also because the tune keeps to a simple beat while giving a burst of energy that makes you want to get up and utterly lose yourself in the groove.
Liars: Mess
“Take my pants off. Use my socks. Smell my socks. Eat my face off.” The opening song, “Mask Maker,” from their seventh album Mess perhaps is a battle cry from the 14-year-old band Liars, who welcome experimentation across genres with open arms. The electronic album is a stark difference to their once guitar-heavy debut album, yet they’ve still preserved those raw, complex layers of texture. This “messiness” is pretty refreshing after listening to perfected, polished hits of the electronic music world. While the mood is dark, the trio show a playful side throughout the album that wills listeners to dance. Mess is out on 21 March via Mute Records.
Kate Bush Announces Live Shows
For the first time since way back in 1979, the imitable, iconic Kate Bush has shocked and thrilled fans around the world by announcing a series of forthcoming concerts. All set to take place in London, the 15 shows are slated to run from 26 August to 19 September this year and promise to be just as other-worldly as audiences would expect from the enigmatic and somewhat mystical artist. For those too young to have seen her live during her last tour, peep this video of Bush incredible live performance of “Wow,” which combines music, dance, poetry, mime, burlesque, theatrics and a whole lot of magic.
