NPR Music at SXSW 2014

Our week in music looks to some of the standout artists seen at this year’s SXSW festival

For music publications, SXSW is what New York Fashion Week is to the Vogue editorial staff—exciting, exhausting and ultimately a sink or swim string of parties, content and cut-throat editorial decision-making. Luckily, the deft-eared team at NPR has been live-compiling their favorites from the annual Austin festival in their Spotify playlist. Not resting on one particular genre, the playlist examines the best of the festival—from hip-hop to folk to electronic—with artists varying in degrees of exposure. Some of the names on the list are familiar but most are fresh-faced indies making their widespread debut. NPR does listeners the ultimate service, giving the option of surveying the best of the festival without the myriad clicks of searching for individual artists.
