The City Marathon PT Pack from Adidas Originals—released today, 6 September 2013—honors the ultimate pursuit of 26.2 miles on foot. The team at the German athletic powerhouse updated the Marathon PT in three new colorways for fall, each paying homage to one of the world’s most renowned races. The City Marathon PT pack is a promising offering from the Originals program, suggesting the brand is paying attention to its roots and creating a heritage-inspired line that is both retro and contemporary. But the Marathon PTs were almost lost to the sneaker gods.

It was almost 30 years that the Marathon PT original prototypes sat in the attic of the company’s former technical director. One day as he was packing up for a move, the Marathon PTs were rediscovered. The shoes utilize the patented Dellinger Web technology, that disperses impact and reduces shock when walking or running—think of it as a vintage technology that still holds up. We found the Chicago colorway to be an exceptionally comfortable casual shoe with a unique vibe that’s retro but sophisticated. As a nod to the proud marathoner, the back heel features a 42.195 graphic representing the length in kilometers of a marathon. A key pocket in the tongue further evokes the image of a throwback runner while offering a great stash spot for precious cargo.

The City Marathon PT Pack is available today, 6 September 2013, for $110 in three colorways honoring the world’s most renowned races: New York, Berlin and Chicago. Visit Adidas Originals for more details and to check out additional city colorways.
