Colorful Sneakers and Socks for Spring

Metallic, bright or subtle, there are combinations for all tastes here

As the cold weather breaks, we itch to replace heavy boots and thick socks with footwear that’s lighter and brighter. This spring, we’re focused on reintroducing color into our wardrobes. From retro touches to bold metallics, color-blocking, smiley faces and playful slogans, our selection of sneaker and sock combinations is made for all tastes—and with the intention of adding a little energy and glee to your looks this season.

Blazer Mid ’77

A new, reimagined take on a classic, the Blazer Mid ’77 adds a few appealing details to the original. While the white and black iterations came and went (and are fetching high resale prices), the all-pink version is our pick. With suede overlays, they’re made from leather and the rubber soles offer plenty of support.

Handle With Care Socks

With similar stretch and stay as performance socks, this pink N/A (Necessary Anywhere) pair is adorned with a “Handle With Care” slogan just above the ankle. They’re comfortable, cute and offer a very clear message for days when you’re extra delicate.

Les Chaussettes Socks

Cut from two tones of yellow cotton, these Jacquemus socks are a vibrant addition to any look. Made in Portugal, they’re crafted from a cotton blend (80% cotton, 18% nylon, 2% elastane) that makes them comfy but also durable.

Patchwork Slip-Ons

These patchwork slip-ons from Vans are a bright and cheerful take on the classic. With an upper made from various fabrics—cotton, leather and suede—they are as tactile as they are colorful.

V-12 B-Mesh Sneaker

Veja’s V-12 B-Mesh sneakers offer a little color, making them stand out from the rest of the brand’s roster. The upper is made from recycled water bottles, the lining is cut from recycled polyester and the other panels are leather—all atop a rubber sole.

Home Run Socks

From Roster Sox, these Home Run socks take inspiration from the classic “thank you” shopping bags and are available in several colorways. Crafted in Japan from a cotton blend, they are a jazzed up version of traditional crew socks.

Lucky Socks

Most “lucky” items of clothing are the rattiest in one’s wardrobe, but these ones from Richer Poorer feature a classic smiley face on the side and a pretty rip-proof upper and toe. Available in two colors, they are made from upcycled cotton and feature extra arch support and a reinforced toe and heel for a longer lifespan.

Contera / Glacier

Independent sneaker brand Clearweather blends various styles for the Contera / Glacier. Made from premium leather and suede, they take tips from the designers’ backgrounds in skateboarding, but offer up something entirely unique.

K-Street Sneakers

With just a few bright pops of color, Kenzo’s K-Street high-top sneakers are made from a wash-friendly polyester so it’s easy to keep them crisp and white. With a bright red pull tab and logo, there’s just enough flair added to an otherwise simple and sleek white high-top.

Tie-Dye Socks

Japanese footwear label Suicoke has taken the classic crew sock and elevated it significantly with its tie-dye version. Made in collaboration with British heritage brand Corgi, these socks are made in the UK from 100% cotton, and feature hand-linked toes—making them much more comfortable and offering a smooth silhouette. Available in four bright, playful colorways.

Laminate Socks

Maria La Rosa’s laminate silk-blend socks are rich, luxe and get better with time—which is certainly uncommon for socks. They’ll soften with wear, but will keep their sparkle and shine. Available in fuchsia, violet, silver and more, these socks are certainly statement-makers.

Onda Light

Handcrafted in Georgia, Crosty sneakers are made from quality calf-leather and are super-comfortable. Featuring an Italian rubber cup-sole, the Onda is durable and sturdy, but it’s the off-white panel and “tavisupleba” (meaning freedom) in Georgian script that really differentiate these from other all-white sneakers.

Chuck Taylor 70 Low

A true classic, Converse Chuck 70 is given an update here—adding an extra-supportive insole and side-stitching, making them more comfortable and sturdy. This blue colorway is a little vintage Americana and an ideal hue for spring time.

Blue Skull Socks

NYC’s Nice Laundry offers an extensive collection of customizable socks in countless colorways and with plenty of icons to choose from. These cotton-blend bluebell-colored socks with a small embroidered skull offer just enough flair..

Sheer Check Socks

Japanese brand Kapital makes their sheer check socks in yellow, black, blue, green and red—a colorway for every occasion. Equal parts preppy and playful, they are a subtle way to add color or a  pattern to an outfit.

Fea220

Full Steam combines a significant number of styles into one sneaker, without it becoming a Frankenstein. Part golf spike, part brogue, part trainer but also part skate shoe, these shoes remain inherently unique. Made from high-quality materials (cowhide and sheepskin) the neutral hues are offset by a bright red smiley face.
