El Cosmico Provision Co. Apothecary Line

Three formulations created to protect and moisturize skin from the harsh climate in Marfa, Texas

Founded in 2006, El Cosmico is a communal oasis in the desert. Across 21 acres, the anti-hotel in Marfa, Texas offers refurbished trailers, yurts, Sioux-style teepees and a campground for pitching your own tent—sleep as close to the night sky as possible, at the level you’re comfortable with. At an altitude of 4800 ft, however, the region’s harsh climate isn’t very kind to the skin. While the strange and unique desert flora have wonderfully adapted, your skin is almost guaranteed to become dry.

The lobby store, called El Cosmico Provision Co, stocks natural body care remedies from independent makers like Earth tu Face and Fat and The Moon. Now, the store proudly has its own organic offerings, specially made to protect skin from the rough west Texan environment—but the oil blends can be used by anyone whose skin is feeling roughed up and needs some TLC. The three-piece ECPC apothecary line was made in collaboration with Laurel Canyon-based certified herbalist Erin Lee Smith, who pulled from “spiritual and medicinal traditions in the East and West.” The highly moisturizing Desert Body Oil and Cosmic Face Oil have considered formulas that moisturize, energize and soothe with ingredients like clary sage, cedarwood juniperus, frankincense, vetiver and more. ECPC Salvation is an all-purpose balm in easy-to-go stick form. We love that the packaging captures the area’s mystic magnetism.

Find the ECPC Apothecary line at the campground or, for those of us who don’t live in the high plains of west Texas, from El Cosmico’s online shop.
