ICNY SS16 Cold Summer

More shiny socks and hi-vis jackets in the sportswear brand’s new collection of reflective apparel

Reflective specialist brand ICNY (read it out as “Eye See New York”) launched in 2012 when designer Michael Cherman was hit by a car while biking home from work. The Brooklyn-based label started out with Cherman hand-pressing 3M reflective fabric onto socks, and ICNY has expanded to stylish athleisure pieces for all genders that scream to be seen, day or night.

The just launched SS16 collection, titled “Cold Summer,” adds fiesta red and pale Pacific Ocean blue tones to the black-and-grey building blocks—alluding to Cherman’s time in sunlit San Diego before moving to the other coast. Our favorites from the collection are the statement socks with different sized reflective dots (plus moisture-wicking COOLMAX fabric) that we wouldn’t mind wearing even if we skipped the bike commute.

Other pieces on our wish list are the maximum visibility Reflector Windbreaker ($120) lined with mesh, plus their new mesh and ripstop headwear, all designed to keep the head cool and visible. Shop the collection online at ICNY and Spring.
