Kava Gorna’s “100 Cheeks” Book

More than just a celebration of vintage denim, this publication honors 50 beautiful butts

Fashion and lifestyle photographer Kava Gorna understands the allure of beautiful butts. Through the sultry and playful photographs in her just-released book, “100 Cheeks,” Gorna pays homage to vintage denim while also celebrating the bottoms that fill it up. Fifty women have been documented and the images—shot on a Contax G2—appear mostly without retouching. There’s a diversity of body types present, and sensuality envelops them all.

In many ways, each image strikes a balance between fantasy, empowerment and a respectful capture; while it’s focused on one body part, Gorna steers clear of solely sexualizing the women she’s photographed. The photographer worked with a cast of friends and collaborators (including fashion designer Pamela Love and actress Jemima Kirke) and the visual potency delivers something universal yet entirely intimate. This tribute to denim and derrières can be considered a style guide, showcasing the varying ways in which women wear their classic denim shorts and jeans in a timeless manner. But altogether, it’s something more.

100 Cheeks” ($35) is available online now in soft cover with rose gold foil.
