Finding the perfect white button-down can prove as trying as the ladies' quest for the all-purpose little black dress. Fortunately, cycling clothier Outlier decided to "experiment in form," resulting in the pivot shirt—an elegant woven designed for flexibility.

After wearing the classic look for a few months, I was impressed by the mobility of the pivot sleeve and the shirt's long lean fit, designed to keep backs covered while leaning forward on a bike. Another convenient feature, the double-flap pocket keeps items securely in place.

Produced in three colors—they added light blue and lavender since the white version came out so well—the nearly century-old, family-owned Gambert Shirt Corp makes the shirt at their factory in New Jersey. Technical specs like single needle tailoring and cross and lock stitched buttons ensure a long-lasting garment, while its two-ply Egyptian cotton fabric, spun and woven in Italy, makes for a classic, tailored aesthetic.

An ideal shirt for anyone who cycles to work, the pivot also works just an all-around great shirt for anyone seeking more freedom of movement in what they wear. The Pivot sells from Outlier online starting today for a reasonable $120.
