For most well-meaning shoppers, finding the right gift is a challenge—let alone chancing upon something that’s truly unique. Sourcing products from independent designers and brands around the world, Stockholm-based web commerce platform Tictail opened its first (albeit temporary) US retail location this week in NYC’s Lower East Side. The Holiday Pop-Up introduces shoppers to independent designers and brands from around the world. Think of it as a brick and mortar for all the local brands you’ve always wanted to support while visiting a new city, but didn’t have the real estate in your suitcase.

Spanning men’s and women’s apparel, shoes and accessories, the shop also plays host to a selection of unique crafts and items for the home. Tictail founder Carl Waldekranz launched the platform with By Mutti, his mother’s line of porcelain adorned with classic sailor-style tattoo artwork, which can now be seen and purchased in-store. Other highlights include the Transparent Speaker from People Products, handmade rucksacks by Barcelona-based Ölend and paper sculptures from Malmö’s Future Days design studio. Drawing on their library of over 60,000 stores throughout 150 countries, even the most well-traveled shoppers will discover new products and designers.

The Tictail Holiday Pop-Up is now open at 90 Orchard Street in NYC’s Lower East Side through 20 December 2014. Shop all of Tictail’s products from independent designers and retailers around the world anytime, anywhere via their webstore.
