Leather and suede boots and brogues blending classic construction and contemporary design
Nobody wants to admit it, but summer is on its way out. And while we’ll all miss the casual clothing that goes along with sun-soaked days, the thought of welcoming boots back into rotation is pretty damn nice. It was good timing then that CH recently came across Unmarked, a relatively young brand making high-quality leather as well as suede boots and brogues. Born and bred in Mexico, the brand’s small staff of skilled craftsmen uses traditional techniques as a base for experimenting with new materials and more contemporary designs. Their classic brogues, crepe-soled desert boots and thick Vibram-soled wingtips are particularly eye-catching.
While Unmarked certainly isn’t in the minority as far as riffing off classic designs with tweaks like Vibram soles and contrast welts, CH appreciates what looks to be a dedication to quality over all else. By using Goodyear welts—the most sturdy and respected way of fashioning a shoe’s upper to its sole, allowing the owner to repeatedly re-sole the shoe and thus expanding its life near exponentially—and full vegetable-tanned leather, Unmarked makes their shoes to last, through both trends and time.
