BMW and GoPro In-Dash Integration

Control your WiFi-enabled camera from the driver’s seat

While in Wisconsin with BMW to test drive the all new M3 and M4 on the Road America racetrack (more on that soon), we were given a sneak peek at the new GoPro app integration partnership. With this, owners of all BMW and MINI models equipped with BMW Apps or MINI Connected systems will be able to control their WiFi-enabled GoPro HERO 3+ camera using the car’s iDrive system. Meaning: no more crossing your fingers, hoping you have the right angle, or jumping in and out of the drivers seat to start and stop recording.

Though the iDrive system will work through the native GoPro iPhone app, you’ll now be able to manage your camera from the dash, rather than fumbling with your phone while driving. Plus, seeing what your camera sees on new BMW 10″ in-dash screen will always be superior to seeing it on your phone. The iDrive will also display camera vitals like elapsed recording time, battery life and Wi-Fi signal strength. Expect more information as it rolls out from BMW and GoPro.
