Despite smartphone camera capabilities encroaching upon and even surpassing the bulk of point-and-shoot cameras on the market, our digital Swiss army knives still have some hardware weak points—even the almighty iPhone. Melbourne, Australia-based Knog, known the world over for their quality bike lights and more recently camera lights, decided to turn up the brightness on nighttime phone photo shoots. Their latest product, the Expose Smart Light—specially designed for the iPhone (and compatible with the 4S, 5, 6 and 6 Plus)—beefs up the camera’s flash a whopping 120 lumens via nine high-powered LEDs. A carefully designed accompanying app along with Bluetooth connectivity makes for complete control over intensity and white balance with both still shooting and video modes. Looking to really nail the shot? More than one Expose can be controlled from one iPhone, allowing the user to fully illuminate their subject from multiple angles if desired. Where night shots once lacked depth and clarity, the Expose Smart light opens up a new world of possibilities in quality for iPhone night shooting.

Currently available for pre-order, the Expose is available in both black and white (to keep the iPhone aesthetic on point) for $70 with expected shipping toward the end of January.
