Master & Dynamic MA770 Concrete Speaker
Designed in collaboration with architect Sir David Adjaye, a sculptural piece that is equally beautiful and functional
NYC-based Master & Dynamic has already garnered plenty of well-deserved attention for their premium-quality headphones and earphones, and today the young audio company is launching their first-ever speaker. Designed in collaboration with celebrated architect Sir David Adjaye, the MA770 speaker is sculptural and sleek with phenomenal audio quality. Geometric and wireless, the MA770 is crafted from premium materials: diamond-cut anodized aluminum controls, titanium tweeters and the font steel grille is magnetically attached, and therefore removable for an even cleaner look. Most curious, though, is the speaker’s housing is made from a concrete composite.
Appearances aside, of course, the most important factor is the audio quality. The proprietary concrete composite makes for clearer, purer sound and the sculptural design offers dampening that means you can pump up the volume without affecting sound quality or creating undesirable vibrations. With 100 Watts of Class D amplification, just one speaker can easily permeate a room with quality audio, but a pair of MA770s can be set up as left/right channels—thanks to built-in Chromecast capabilities. The MA770 also supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. And yes, because it’s made of concrete, it’s heavy—35lbs to be exact.
Available exclusively at the MoMA store from next week through May, the MA770 can also be pre-ordered directly from Master & Dynamic. The speaker costs $1800 and measures 16 by 20 by 10 inches.
