Porter & Sail’s Digital Concierge Service

A free travel app offering carefully selected, geo-located recommendations

Regardless of how carefully one plans a vacation or business trip, on-the-fly recommendations can come in handy for spare moments or simply indulging whimsy. Both Yelp and Foursquare have their limitations, in that you’re relying on friends or strangers, whereas digital concierge service Porter & Sail—which we tested this past weekend while staying at London’s new The Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone—offers something more: expertise. The key here is the diversity of insider content from local experts. Porter & Sail partners with premiere hotels and extends the hospitality experience beyond the walls. They’ve most recently launched their Los Angeles iteration, and have programs in London, Singapore and Miami. New York City, Tokyo, Milan and Shanghai are also in the works—and will all be accessible through the one app when staying at any of the partner hotels. Altogether, it’s beautifully designed, bursting with functionality and updated with regularity (plus you can also access the front desk, and even check out using the app).

For the Frieze Art Fair, London 2015 Porter & Sail debuted an exclusive guide—produced by Frieze Project’s art curator herself, Nicola Lees. It was an exemplary guide offering both staples and surprises. The accompanying interactive guides provided everything from picturesque walks to the best of food and drink in the area. There’s certainly an air of convenience to the app, but most important happens to be the reliable recommendations within walking distance. With plenty of hotels around the globe adopting the service, it’s worthwhile to grab the app now.
