CH Global Spin: Round The World with Star Alliance and Marriott International

Our trip across the northern hemisphere and a chance to win two business class tickets by following along

by Karen Day

With the quick swipe of a finger we can now easily find out which restaurants are popular in Copenhagen, what’s stylish on the streets of Seoul or which Caribbean island delivers the most epic sunsets. Social media may have put the world at our fingertips, but it can’t replace the incredible stimulation that tangible exploration provides.

Cool Hunting is centered around this idea; a majority of our original reports stem from the impromptu discoveries we make and people we meet while on the road. Recently, Star Alliance and Star Alliance and Marriott TRAVELER asked us to cast our curious eye on some of our favorite favorite cities via the Star Alliance’s Round The World program. Using its Book & Fly tool, we’ve customized an itinerary that speaks to the creative wanderer, and one that would serve as a solid jumping off point for professionals who are thinking about swapping the office for a little fresh air.

Star Alliance, which has 28 member airlines in its fleet, offers four levels of travel for their RTW program—economy, premium economy, business or first. You can choose to travel for up to six or 12 months at distances spanning 26,000 to 39,000 miles. (The Earth’s circumference is 24,901 miles.) Marriott International, the network’s partner for our journey, makes it easy thanks to their abundance of properties that are as offbeat as Baku, Azerbaijan, or as centrally located as downtown Tokyo.

You can follow along as we make our way from Asia to Europe by keeping an eye out for stories labeled CH Global Spin, or #CHGlobalSpin on our social channels. Our trip will also be featured on Marriott’s blog, Traveler, and on Star Alliance’s blog, where you have the opportunity to participate in their “Where in the World?” competition—which opens 1 September. If you correctly guess which of the seven cities we’re in (based on photos we snap), you’re in the running for a chance to win two business class RTW tickets.

Learn more about Star Alliance’s RTW program and look through their suggested itineraries from their site.
