Eating Europe Food Tours

Making the most of one night in London, Prague, Amsterdam and more, by way of fork and spoon

When you’re in a new city for one night, randomly picking a restaurant from the lists friends have emailed (or what Yelp or Instagram might suggest) has the potential to be a bust. But also, there’s no interaction with the city and its people. The best use of your time, we highly recommend, is getting yourself on an Eating Europe Tour. Currently in Rome, Florence, Prague, Amsterdam, London, and soon Venice, these guided food tours are a whirlwind of history, craft dishes and drinks, hidden local gems and bumping elbows with the rest of the city. On a recent trip to London, we joined in on the 3.5 hour long Twilight Soho Food Tour (£84 per person) and it was an evening we won’t forget.

A life-changing gin and tonic (the small-batch gin is made in-house) and gin-infused beef pie, a Basque pintxos buffet, smoky Lapsang Souchong tea plus vegan mushroom and truffle dumplings in a dark Chinatown dim sum parlor are just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s a lot of walking and eating (come starving and pace yourself, or you’ll be sad to pass on the Instagram-worthy dessert), but because every stop on the way is reserved and expected by the restaurant (who serves everything immediately), you don’t waste a second of precious time. By the end of the evening, we made our way back to our hotel filled up on amazing food but also what felt like a week’s worth of Soho’s sights and sounds.
